How will I benefit from therapy? Is it right for me? It goes without saying that every individual's experience is different. Much of what you get out of therapy comes from what you put into it. Your therapy treatment is not limited to the 50 minute session. You will likely receive recommendations to experiment or practice outside of the therapy session. You will benefit from participating in your treatment. The most productive and beneficial results come from those individuals who enter into therapy with an open mind and a genuine desire to benefit themselves. Is therapy private and confidential? All sessions and information are kept private and confidential. Please be aware, however, that there are situations where we are legally bound to disclose confidential and private information: - There is reasonable suspicion of abuse to a child, elderly person or other vulnerable adult. - The client presents as a serious danger to himself/herself or others. - The case file is court ordered by a judge. If this is a concern, let us know. We will gladly answer any further questions you may have about this during our initial phone consultation.
Do you take insurance? We are an “out of network” provider. We do not accept your insurance directly. We can provide you with a “superbill” which you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursements. A superbill is a weekly or monthly summary of your payments that insurance companies use to process reimbursements. You should contact your insurance company and ask them what their reimbursement terms are for therapy sessions. Please be aware that if you choose to submit a superbill to your insurance company, your private medical information will be released. This may impact your future insurance coverage, rates and reimbursement. For this reason, many patients opt to pay strictly out-of-pocket, and bypass their insurance carriers altogether. For more info on insurance and superbills, please feel free to contact us.
What will be discussed when I first call? During the phone consultation, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and what your expectations are. It’s your opportunity to ask questions about therapy and how it may apply to your needs. We’ll also discuss payment and any insurance concerns you may have. Additionally, it’s a chance to meet and decide if therapy is appropriate at this time.
What can I expect in my first session? During your first session, you will get to know your therapist, go over paperwork and any questions you may have. You will discuss your goals and expectations regarding therapy. Most importantly, you will gain comfort with the therapy process.
How many sessions will I need? Typically, clients schedule one session per week at the same time each week. The number of sessions you may need depends on a variety of factors such as your overall goals, complexity of issues and how motivated you are to work toward your goals. Focusing on a single issue could take a few weeks to a few months, while addressing complex issues could take longer.
What if I need to cancel a session? We understand that conflicts come up. It’s no problem to cancel or postpone a session and we appreciate it when you do so 24-hours beforehand. You may be billed a full session fee for any cancellations less than 24-hours before your session start time.
I'm ready to start. What do I do next? Just give us a call 904-525-5522. You can also email to ask any questions that you many have about therapy, however, you may not wish to disclose confidential information in your email for security reasons. (There is no charge for a phone consultation).
